Health Programs

A network of healthcare and community-based professionals promoting health and quality of life.

TEN's Health Programs:

At the heart of our initiative is a passionate and dedicated group of healthcare and rehabilitation professionals who believes that every person, regardless of their circumstances, has the right to access quality healthcare and the opportunity to lead a healthy and fulfilled life. Our network is a collaborative platform where professionals from various healthcare and community fields come together to share their knowledge, skills, and experiences with the ultimate goal of promoting health, daily functioning, participation, well-being, and an enhanced quality of life among communities in developing countries.

We believe that establishing connections with local experts and change agents within community settings plays a crucial role in achieving lasting progress in healthcare. Our network aims to cultivate joint approaches that align with the distinct cultural, social, and economic circumstances of each community, thereby promoting sustainable development and impact.

Key Objectives:

TEN’s healthcare professionals’ engagement with local professionals and change agents, involves hands-on experiences in daily routine work, as well as peer learning sessions and workshops.

Activity frameworks include hospitals, community clinics, health and rehabilitation centers, community-based rehabilitation organizations, special education schools, settings for children with disabilities, and more.

Fields of engagement encompass pediatrics, rehabilitation (neurologic, orthopedic), disabilities and more.

Additional Information:

  • We welcome seasoned healthcare professionals from Israel and Jews from the diaspora from the fields of occupational therapy, physiotherapy, and speech and language pathology.
  • Our health programs take place in communities where TEN operates worldwide, currently available in Ghana and Uganda, with plans to expand to other countries in the near future.
  • Delegations depart three times a year: in February, July, and October.
  • Each delegation lasts for five weeks and typically includes between 4 and 8 professionals.
  • Before departing, professionals undergo two days of preparation, either in Israel or through online platforms.
  • Our programs include 4-5 days of activity every week.
  • Our schedule follows an alternating pattern. Every second weekend is open, allowing healthcare professionals the opportunity to travel within the host country. On the weekends in between, we have closed weekends dedicated to preparing peer learning content and workshops.
  • As part of the program, the professionals participate in a variety of peer learning sessions and lectures relevant to their activity in the health field within a cultural and local context, as well as international development content.
  • Each host community has a dedicated team of Israeli directors and local coordinators, ensuring smooth operations on the ground.
  • Accommodation arrangements for health professionals are either in TEN centers or nearby guesthouses.
